International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)
Dalhousie University was awarded internship placements in the CIDA International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) in 2010. The IYIP is a youth internship program designed to give young Canadian professionals (ages 19-30) with a university/college degree(s) the opportunity to gain valuable international development work experience.

The deadline for receipt of applications for internship placement in June 2012 is Thursday May 24, 2012 at 4 PM ADT.
Eligibility Criteria
· Be between 19 and 30 years of age
· Have graduated from a university or college program by the time the internship placement begins
· Be unemployed or underemployed
· Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada
· Have not previously participated in a program funded by CIDA’s Youth Employment Strategy (YES)

The Internship placement consists of:
- Pre-departure Program
- Internship Placement for 5-6 months
- Public Engagement Activity
- Debrief Program upon Return
The IYIP Program covers the following expenses:
- Return airfare from Canada to host country *
- Intern salary to cover accommodation, meals and local travel
- Health/repatriation insurance and vaccines required for the host country *
- Accommodation in Canada for pre-departure and debriefing sessions *
- Visa requirements for host country *
